Immunization

The topic that I chose this week is immunization. Immunization is meaningful to me because it allows me to know that children are getting the preventive care they deserve. It is already bad that in most cases soon as an infant enrolls in a daycare they catch all the viruses that are going around and get sick really fast. Immunization does gives me some type of peace of mind that if a child is not up to date on their immunization shots they are not allowed to attend the daycare. I know not all sicknesses can be prevented but some can be prevented by a child getting a little shot every 3-6 months of their early life when their immune system is not as strong as an adult. In Ireland immunization is only require if the parents want their child to have it done and their signature is require stating that they want their child to have the immunization preformed.

  1. Hello Mr Kevin,
Great choice because we definitely need to know that our children are getting the preventive care they deserve. Children need that immunization because like you said in these daycare's children get sick really fast and not because the daycare is nasty but children immune system have not gotten as strong as it needs to be so yes, immunization is so important especially for the early childhood.

  3. I have to agree that immunizations are very important for any child. Believe it or not, there are some parents who opt to not have their children immunized either because they believe inconclusive evidence that certain immunizations cause ADD or ADHD, or their religious practice prohibits such health care. We are definitely living in perilous times and children are subjected to so many contagious and fatal ailments. The American Academy of Pediatrics is a great resource to check for updated information regarding the latest information on children's health and required immunization timelines.

  4. I think there is a lot of research parents need to do on the topic of immunizations - and otherwise respect others beliefs and research instead of being condemning. It is sad that when a parent isn't allowed to make an informed choice.

  5. I agree that immunizations are important but some can also be harmful to the child. I agree with Shahrazad about doing more research on immunizations. There are a lot of natural preventives that can help children fight off infections.
