P-2.8
—We shall treat child assessment
information
confidentially and share this
information only when
there is a legitimate need for it.
I-2.4
—To listen to families, acknowledge
and build upon
their strengths and competencies,
and learn from
families as we support them in their
task of nurturing
children.
I-1.3
—To recognize and respect the unique
qualities,
abilities, and potential of each
child.
In the social work field we must keep all records confidential unless court ordered to release them. If confidentiality is broken you can lose your license if you have one and even lose your job. We also always look out for the best interest of the child and try to maximize a child's fullest potential. When talking to families I must listen and give feedback to try to gain trust.
Hello Kevin,
ReplyDeleteYeah it is very important as a professional to keep records confidential. We have to know and understand the profession we are in because people lose their jobs everyday because they either don't respect records or just don't read the policy. As professionals we have to do the right things and strive to take children's success to their full potential.
Hello Kevin,
ReplyDeleteI really agree with the second Ideal you posted. Parents are the most vital resource an educator can have. When we do not inform and consult them on educational decisions, we not only dis-empower them but we alienate them as well.
